Every second Thursday of the month, a team from WLA serves dinner at Ark Aid Street Mission. Ark Aid is an organization set up to help and serve those on the margins of society. They open their doors to the homeless in London every night for a free, hot meal. Fill out the form if you're interested in serving or want to know more.
We host weekly ESL conversation circles at WLA for women who want to practice their English and build relationships with other women. As a volunteer, you have the opportunity to develop meaningful friendships with wonderful women as you help them practice their English. Fill out the form if you're interested in serving or want to know more.
WLA hosts a monthly food depot of the London Food Bank at Sherwood Forest Mall every third Tuesday. This is an opportunity to help families access the food bank's resources as well as build relationships with people in the community. There are volunteer roles in registration and database upkeep, and food pick up and distribution. There are morning and afternoon volunteer shifts available.
In partnership with Gateway and West Park churches, WLA participates in the NWL (Northwest London) Connect program. On Monday nights at Trinity Presbyterian Church our three churches host people in the local community to connect together. We have seen gospel friendships emerge and we are excited about the community development that will continue. Some events that we've hosted in the past include: Potluck meals, Soup Nights, Bible Studies, Getting to know our Neighbours, Living out Matthew 25:31-46, Sharing Christmas and Easter meals together. For more information on NWL Connect, fill out the Serve form.
There are always big and small work projects on the go at WLA. Whether it's a stable needing to be built, a room needing to be painted or lights needing to be changed, if you are able-bodied and wanting to serve, we could use your help. We can also add you to a list in case of future big projects!
We are so excited to have our Community Garden up and running! Volunteers are needed to help tend to the plots alongside our neighbours while they garden. This is a great opportunity to get to know friends in the community.
