Leaders In Training Camp

With a growing student ministry, and with many students looking to get involved and serve in the church, we have recognized an opportunity to begin developing leadership during the Jr. High years. While we have run a sort of L.I.T. program during the week of WLA Kids Camp for the past few years, we believe that by separating the L.I.T. program, we can invest more resources and time to make this a more worthwhile experience for our students.

Through this program, we hope to develop Jr. High students in five areas:

  1. Understanding the call to leadership in the church.
  2. Knowing what skills and gifts they have as unique individuals in the body of Christ.
  3. Practice with handling, understanding, and sharing about God's word, the Bible.
  4. Gaining experience with planning and explaining activities and games.
  5. Participating in team building activities and learning how to support their peers.

Each day will include:

  • Teaching about aspects of leadership from different leaders in the church.
  • Learning from God's word.
  • Team building activities.
  • Working on a week-long project/presentation.

We are aiming this program at students entering grade 7, 8 & 9 in the fall of 2026. We hope that you will consider signing up for the 2026 WLA Leaders in Training program!

Camp program begins at 9:00 a.m. with pick-up at 3:00 p.m.

Frequently Asked Questions

What ages can attend Leadership Camp?

Leadership Camp is open to students entering Grades 7, 8, and 9 in the upcoming school year. Activities and teaching are designed specifically for this age group.

Can my student attend again if they have come in previous years?

Absolutely! Returning students are welcome and encouraged to attend again. Each year brings new experiences, activities, teaching, and opportunities for leadership growth.

If my student is volunteering at WLA Kids Camp the following week, can they still attend?

Yes! Students are still welcome to attend Leadership Camp even if they are volunteering at WLA Kids Camp the following week. We simply encourage families to consider the busy schedule and ensure students are prepared for a full couple of weeks of activity and involvement.

Please note: Students must be entering Grade 8 or 9 in order to apply to volunteer at WLA Kids Camp.

Will attending Leaders in Training Camp help my student if they want to serve at Kids Camp in the future?

Yes! Leaders in Training Camp is a great opportunity for students to develop leadership skills, learn how camp programs run, and gain experience working as part of a team. Participation in LIT Camp is viewed positively when students apply to serve at Kids Camp in future years.
